Ok, der Matrix-Server läuft toll mit https://continuwuity.org/, aber Fluffychat, was einem Google-Ergebnis nach der beste Matrix-Client sein soll, kann leider keine Notification-Previews anzeigen.

Does Tuwunel work with ElementX (aka has sliding sync etc)? Does it work with video calls? Is it actively maintained?
I love the idea of a lighter weight Matrix server, but am mainly worried that it wouldn't support the basic features we need (eg video calls) or that it would fall behind SYnapse on some necessary stuff (although we don't care about stuff like spaces, threads etc).

Wenn ich einfach nur einen Matrix-Server für mich selbst haben will, gibts da ein gutes Docker-Setup, das irgendjemand vorbereitet hat? Was braucht man sinnvollerweise dazu, außer dem Synapse Image? Irgendwas zur Administration / Auth, etc? Gibt's da was fertiges, oder muss ich selber nachdenken?
(Ich will im Grunde nur meine Telegram-Bots ersetzen, gegen etwas selfhosted, es braucht gar keinen Kontakt zur Außenwelt oder irgendwelche Bridges oder andere User)

@sarah maybe on my older account but ive not logged in to it for months and now the rooms aren't loading. Do you know how to add more room directories to your search? By default it only searches matrix.org which is like if the mastodon search function only searched for posts on mastodon.social
https://matrixrooms.info has a website its one of the biggest (but also less moderated) room directories, matrix.org is really hard to get listed on nowadays. So you can either go to that website or add "matrixrooms.info" to your list of room directories in your client, the specific UI is different for each client but I know how to do it in element

Maybe you know that Synapse for Matrix is not light-weight and its proposed successor Dendrite is not ready yet. A nice light-weight alternative is Conduit.
Conduit has still no support for #LDAP even though it was requested a few years ago.

This means that you can setup a Yunohost server, add friends, family as new users in Yunohost, install Tuwunel and the users will be able to use your light-weight Matrix (via Tuwunel) server.

I want to mention Continuwuity Matrix homeserver, which I've just installed to replace Synapse. It's still in beta, with v0.5 just released, but which does feel stable and quite close to production ready.
Matrix is something I've wanted to get into, and a year or whatever ago, I tried Dendrite, but homeserver projects tend to get abandoned, so I ended up with Synapse anyway, like most people do. But then I didn't do anything with it.
Continuwuity is written in Rust, and is a hard fork of a hard fork, and in active development. As a single user, I prefer something like this running, and hope to see this project evolve into its own thing, and be important.
I think it's a project worth trying, or at least keeping an eye on.
