Novo AiDrama: Cloudfare lançou um projeto para implementar o Matrix não sei no quê deles (não entendi, muito técnico pra mim), não o fez (povo viu no Github), e os responsáveis publicaram um artigo de blog no site oficial da Cloudfare aparentemente gerado por IA.

A conta citada abaixo fez print de tudo (está no fio), pois é claro que depois a #Cloudfare foi lá modificar o código e o blog, dizendo que era um projetinho pessoal do autor e tal.
Sem surpresas, a história escalou, foram severamente criticados e a fundação Matrix decidiu responder.
A F. Matrix fez um artigo que começa super polido (matrix.org/blog/2026/01/28/mat…), todo educadinho, faz elogios à empresa, e penso que provavelmente pegaram a pessoa com maior self-control do time para escrever sem transparecer que deve ter um monte de gente explodindo de rir do ridículo da situação, da vergonha que é para a empresa se prestar a um negócio desse.
Mas escreveram:
"Por outro lado, é lamentável que a publicação tenha exagerado severamente o escopo do projeto: para ser claro, o código ainda não implementa nenhum dos recursos principais do Matrix que permitem a federação segura e, portanto, ainda não constitui um servidor Matrix funcional, muito menos um servidor de nível de produção que você deva considerar implantar."

So envs.net is shutting down their Matrix server and I don't think I've used Matrix in over a year anyway. I could migrate back to matrix.org, but I don't think I get enough value out of Matrix to warrant the effort. I can always revive my Matrix.org account in the future if I want to.

@doc_jones Da bin ich bei dir. Auf kleinen privaten Instanzen gibt's kaum Interesse Daten auszuwerten, und auch nicht viel zu verstehen. Und von außen gibt's auch nicht viel zu verstehen, oder nur mit sehr viel Aufwand. Also mehr kleine Instanzen, bitte! 🤣
#DeltaChat schaue ich mir auch mal an. #Email + #OpenPGP als Backend klingt wild, aber auch gut getestet. Ohne Handynummer und importierte Kontaktliste ist das für meine nicht-Techies aber schon zu kompliziert. (#Matrix auch. Und Emails selbst mit #OpenPGP verschlüsseln auch.)

@maklem ich denke auch, da muss man Betrachten ob etwas so heiß gegessen wird wie es gekocht wird. Mag sein, dass bei #XMPP, #Matrix oder #DeltaChat ein paar mehr Metadaten anfallen. Diese Dienste laufen aber zum teil auf kleinen privat betriebenen Instanzen, die gar kein Interesse haben das zu überwachen und auszuwerten. Ich weiß nicht wie das bei Matrix oder XMPP ist aber bei DeltaChat liegen die Daten eh nur für den Transport auf den Servern. Es bleibt also nur wenig zum auswerten übrig.
