The "share on Mastodon" button feels like the catalyst that moves me from quietly never having understood "share" buttons on the Web to outwardly still not understanding "share" buttons on the Web.
Decades into the Web, in what situation would a "share" button (particularly with an intermediate page load and canned default text) be preferable, easier, more comfortable, or superior in any way to copying and pasting an address?

hey, fun reminder how much the #Mastodon project cares about accessibility!
when I posted an initial PR updating the alt text limit to (gasp) nearly fill an entire 3¼" floppy disk, it was immediately closed the next business day: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/37881
that one is closed for the following reason: (pulls collar) "hey, is it hot in here or is that just me?"
but when I posted an updated, "CoC-compliant" (non-accusatory) PR applying the same methodology with a smaller number, they decided that they should ghost it for 2+ weeks: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/37881
be sure to let the project know on the latest PR how opaque their ableism is and how they don't actually give a fuck about being respectful!

Ho heck, phanpys new "Year in Posts" feature is really great. One of the best ways (I think) to go through ones own posts.
I think the default mastodon web interface should be kicked out and get replaced by phanpy. It's so much better.
