Ich habe gerade die @PolizeiBerlin gebeten ihren Account wiederzubelegen.
Hintergrund: Bei der Evakuierung auf der Fischerinsel am 18./19. September 2025 hatte die Nina App auf aktuelle Hinweise der Polzei auf "X" hingewiesen. Leider habe ich keinen Screenshot gemacht.
Klar, so ein Social Media Kanal ist aufwändig. Und die #mastodon User-Zahlen können das vermutlich nicht rechtfertigen. Im Krisenfall auf eine Plattform mit Login-Zwang und Tracking zu verweisen, kann aber nicht mehr zeitgemäß sein. Eine unkommentierte Kopie der X-Posts wäre schon ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung.

@LilPecan I am pondering about this for different reasons... like, why was that person dismayed about people posting their everyday life to Mastodon?
If they consider a diary to be a valid alternative, I'm wondering why they think so.
Possibilities:
1. Everyday life *ought* to be private, it is unthinkable/awful/embarrassing/uncouth to make it public.
2. Nobody wants to know about someone's everyday life, so why are they polluting everyone's timeline with such boring stuff?
The second option makes me wonder what they think people ought to be posting instead. Only politics? Only self-promotion? (How boring!) Only intellectual discussion and links to interesting articles? What?
It also makes me wonder why they are not curating their feed better, to cut out those folks whom they feel are boring.

Alright. After almost 3 years of running this instance with pretty much no downtime I had ... a pretty significant downtime last night. My hosting provider had some issues that they were troubleshooting, the VPS went down... and stayed down, for the entire night. Finally this morning things could be bought back up online.
But we survived and things are still shit in the world. Hooray...

Käytinpä eilispäivän oman Mastodon-instanssin ajantasaistamiseen. Tämä uusi 4.4-sarjalainen alkaa olla jo niin raskas buildata etteivät nuo pienemmät virtuaalikoneet tahdo pystyä siihen. Lisäksi piilotettuna vaatimuksena olikin Redis 6 ja oma distro tarjosi vain vitosversiota vakiona. Päivähän siinä kalenteriaikaa meni. Pitäisi varmaan tuo distro päivittää myös modernimpaan joskus. #Linux #Mastodon #SysAdmin
