People on Mastodon hating on Mastodon is kind of core Mastodon, it's really weird to me how this is like a cultural thing and I really hate that this shit doesn't get hashtagged somehow. There's the usual cross-section of schizos, cranks, and trolls but a lot of people seem to believe that self-flagellation is needed to fit in or something.
Every time there is a platform blowup somewhere else there are a half-dozen posts which get a thousand boosts that are basically “DON’T COME HERE MASTODON SUX!!!!!" only wordier and more tedious to read. Why are these people here?

I made a #mastodon #list just for #news sites I follow (which are still mostly #Flipboard, but good on 'em for being in #fedi at all), and it's so hard not to rewrite many of the headlines I see them using, like *anybody anywhere* doesn't see the bullshit fascist rhetoric each one is soaked in.
But then I realized there's no end to it, I could be rewriting these all day!
Ugh.. How to de-consolidate #journalism again? How do we evict all the #billionaire colonizers, and go back to #Democracy?

@mynameistillian This is incredibly poor moderation, because you can set username rules to prevent this sort of person from even signing up, like, mastodon.social literally added the feature too. They have no excuse. For any other admins reading, they look like this in your moderation menu on the left, and then here's also what the rule editor looks like. You can even set the matching to "require approval" instead of outright blocking the username...
