Wir müssen uns nicht wundern, wenn sich Neuankömmlinge hier bei #Mastodon unwohl fühlen. Die Flut an männlichen Besserwissern, die ständig den moralischen Zeigefinger schwingen und Andersdenkende sofort persönlich beleidigen, erinnert leider sehr an die dunkle Seite von X. Ist das wirklich die Diskussionskultur, die wir hier leben wollen? Auch das pauschale und radikale Verteufeln aller kommerziellen Anbieter bringt doch niemanden weiter. Ich nutze gerne #Linux und #FOSS, aber ich schäme mich mittlerweile für diese Community. So kommen wir bei Themen wie #Datenschutz nicht voran.

Another reason instances (like .social) really should consider not having open signups is the sheer amount of dickpics posted in their public, federated timeline.
Same with porn.
There's a lot of (mostly) dudes who don't give a damn about the rule about marking NSFW content as sensitive, and I report stuff pretty much every time I browse the local timeline, and I assume the mods aren't just waiting around but are proactive too, so it's a continuous problem.
