The quoting mechanism in #Mastodon is turning out to be virtually useless. The "Pending" permission structure means that for most posts the quoted message never appears until most readers have already moved on from the quoting post itself. Might as well just boost which you can do instantly instead of creating empty quote posts.

Ich mache immer #Bildbeschreibung, aber ärgere mich zusehends, dass es nicht technisch gelöst wird. Bilder haben Metainformationen, auch für Bildbeschreibung. Warum werden die nicht angezeigt? Schlimmer noch, sie werden sogar herausgelöscht, wenn man ein Bild hochlädt. Dabei könnte man es sogar noch geiler machen. Jedes Bild, dass auf Fediverse manuell eine Bildbeschreibung bekommt, bekommt sie in die Metadaten geschrieben.
Können überhaupt Screenreader die Bildbeschreibung in Metainformationen lesen? Falls nein, warum nicht? Warum gibt es einen Bot um Alttexte per AI zu generieren, aber keinen, der das Bild für Blinde beschreibt?
