I just saw a disturbing video on #Linkedin, posted by @alexandrageese , on how #meta actively censors content in America.
The video shows the user using #mullvad vpn to change location to Washington, and asks the questions «how does an abortion work?»; «what types of contraception is there»? And «what to do when facing an unwanted pregnancy». In all instances, Meta AI creates the answer, then deletes it. «Sorry we are not able to process»
What the actual duck?

The year is 2026 and LinkedIn cannot handle non-English video captions.
Well, it can handle them if you A) provide them as a file and B) [THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!] remember to disable the AI feature that generates CC for you.
Seeing these automatic captions playing on top of #Finnish language sponsored video posts makes me think no one (or "no thing") at #LinkedIn has tested the platform with real content.
The language is re-evaluated for each individual line, not the whole video. Because vibes.✌️

Esta mañana he publicado esto en #LinkedIn, por si aquí también lo valoráis.
En estos casi 20 años en la industria he visto tres cambios de paradigma que me han afectado de forma directa en el trabajo que he estado haciendo.
El primero fue la abundancia de recursos. Cuando comprar más memoria y capacidad de procesamiento es más barato que pagar horas de optimización a un ingeniero. Con la actual crisis de disponibilidad de hardware esto ha envejecido regular, pero no espero ningún cambio de tendencia despues de tanto tiempo.
El segundo fue la nube. Cuando sale más a cuenta alquilar la infra por uso en vez de tener la tuya propia. Aunque ahora cuando a un proveedor de servicios en la nube tiene hipo, medio mundo contiene la respiración.
Y el tercero es la IA generativa. Si los desarrolladores entregan código que no han escrito, y otros usan un LLM para revisarlo y ponerlo en producción, hemos quitado al ser humano de la ecuación. No voy a entrar en las connotaciones filosóficas de esta situación (que son muchas), pero desde luego que no entré en este sector para ver como dos máquinas pelean por un churro con música de Linkin Park de fondo.
Mientras tanto, en hardware que tengo en mi casa, con código que he escrito, optimizado y revisado yo mismo, me conecto con el mundo a través de mi pequeño y humilde tubo. Si no fuera por eso, si no fuera porque la posibilidad de ir contracorriente sigue existiendo, hace mucho que me habría dedicado a otra cosa.
Por favor, no perdamos el rumbo de por qué nos dedicamos a esto, qué es lo que nos gusta y qué nos llega de orgullo. Seguramente encontraremos la forma de complicarnos la vida a nosotros mismos y nuevas soluciones para nuevos problemas, pero no dejemos en manos de otros decidir en qué se debería convertir.
