One thing that's like fingers on a chalkboard for me is the tired, historically inaccurate, generic AI-brained argument that "people were against the Internet, too."

The Internet was built for a lot of reasons, some of them political—ARPANET was never politically neutral (so if you're making this argument, please at least Google "Internet Cold War"). It was also one of a number of networking protocols that could have caught on.

But for fuck sake, one time is enough, 2 times within 30 seconds will NOT convince me to install the app, more likely I will delete my account.

linkedIn developers, do you really think I’ll surrender your spam and eventually install the app so you can track everything I do all the time???

NO, I WILL NOT!

Soon time to exit LinkedIn too, it has since long time ago lost its glory.

I seldom use/check #Linkedin, but was unhappy (but not surprised) to see that "Data for Generative Ai Improvement" had been turned on. If you don't want to help AI scrape your data, I suggest you turn it off.

#LinkedIn is a great communication tool for professionals -  which is exactly why it is attractive to cyber adversaries who use it for nefarious activities such as information gathering, fraud, and social engineering.

Check out 7 tips to be secure: open.substack.com/pub/matthewr cybersecurity professionals (we live for this stuff and are also on LinkedIn)!

I hate the #LinkedIN app. AKA The "Cringe App".

I find a post that is interesting. I select it. It has a link, I follow it, it opens in your app, not my browser.

Oh, the phone rings, a child needs attention, whatever, I have to put the phone down to attend to the important whatever issue.

I return to the phone to read the article. But can I? NOoooooooo. It re-scroll ditching whatever I was interested in to whatever LinkedIN want to shove down my eyeballs.

Can I find the original post in my feed? Noooooooo. It is never to be found again. Only the content LinkedIN wants me to see.

Its no wonder LinkedIN now is called "The Cringe site".

LinkedIn changed how they code their landing page and I needed to adjust my uBlock Origin rules to hide the cluttered up "news" (really, ads) feed they put down the side of the page. If like me you want an uncluttered experience and use uBlock Origin, here's a rule that hides that feed:

www.linkedin.com##div[componentkey="newsAndGamesCard"]

#uBlockOrigin #LinkedIn #cruft #clutter #ads

This post is not an invitation to scold me for using LinkedIn or Microsoft products, nor to suggest I leave it or find alternatives.

@carnage4life Yet another reason to no use #LinkedIn. Unless it is in the same industry (or between rivals), working at a secondary job should not be an issue.
