Alright...I got somewhere with this turn-based battle stuff I've been tinkering with. The main thing holding me back was making battle animations that would work no matter where you or your target exist in space.

So I made it so there's a path, and certain points along that path can be set, like the apex of the jump and the target position (in this case, a Marker3D defined on each BattleActor).

Then I just do some simple tweaking of the in/out for the point at the apex of the jump to make it curved, and also take into account whether the actor doing the jump is starting on the left or right. Functionally it works -- it would just need some polishing to make the jump feel good. It moves the actor along the path with a RemoteTransform3D node.

I'm not even sure I would want to program a jump either. I'm just kind of copying the Paper Mario formula to see if I can at this point. But in a way that is smart and flexible for accommodating different ideas.
