Trump's "war on drugs" is a blood-soaked lie to justify a deliberate, violent escalation toward war with Venezuela.

*sigh*
Please, *please* even if you don't personally find it upsetting or sensitive, please put a descriptive alt text or content warning on your images, especially if it's a rude gesture or an offensive term, so the filter tools we use can easily hide your sensitive posts from our view. No, it's not "infantilizing adults" or "tone policing" to have some basic courtesy. I know *you* know better.

A common point of controversy on fedi seems to be content warnings and what post they should be applied to and where they are not needed; personally I tend to go for a policy of “CW on things that might make a reasonable person uncomfortable and it’s not morally their own problem to deal with”[1], but a lot of people seem to really not like it (and TBF, I kinda use to be one of them, but have since changed my mind). In any case, I think there might be a potential solution that would create good incentives for everyone: Combine Hashtags and content warnings so that if you want to spread the message about something, you automatically also add the appropriate CW.
Any thoughts?

[1]: To explain the carve out, I am talking about things such as visible happy queerness. If that makes you uncomfortable, I am not saying that that makes you a bad person (though it might be because you are an egg😉), but I am saying that that needs to be fully normalized, so it’s up to you to figure out a way to deal with your problem there.

Herzlich willkommen im #fediverse, lieber MÄRZ-Verlag @maerz! 💛Schwere Empfehlung dem account zu folgen für unabhängige, #queer und linke #literatur 📚

@everton137 Our company has some clients who are exploring fediverse to reach more people and be able to build authentic connections and share content (without spamming).
Generally, businesses always choose platforms that allow them to reach their audiences and build their brand. This means that sometimes platform A is good, sometimes platform B.
For sure it's good for them to explore fediverse and have more control over their digital presence, but they also need to be sure that entering the fediverse would be good for them in long-term.
As for PR and marketing agencies, they can educate their clients about the reasons to choose fediverse. For example, @mediascopegroup shares information about fediverse and provides clients and partners with educational materials about it. But the final decision always depend on each business strategy, objectives and other factors.
I agree that more companies should choose fediverse - for brand safety, connections with people, building their brand and having safer space. But this requires time and companies always want to see at least 2-3 advantages of entering the #fediverse.
@everton137 I would think businesses go wherever the people are, not the other way around? And currently, the emotional cost of switching is too high for most people: why go to a place where none of your friends and family are?
My hope is public services can lead here: if schools, libraries, cities, etc. would communicate exclusively via #Fediverse, people would follow. And then they would find and connect to friends and family. And businesses would adopt.
