I posted a critique of Israel on #facebook and now the Israel propaganda is following me around instagram promising gods favor and asking for donations.

Secondo me non concilia.

I am not okay. #Facebook just #restricted my account for 3 days for a very serious #falseaccusation, and I feel like I’ve been smashed into a million pieces, and that’s the only platform I get good #engagement on especially locally. Just paid for #Meta Vertified so I can deal with their #extortion via a real human, but I fear they may not be able to help as their #AIslop agent already said for the type of violation appeals aren’t available.

If #Facebook was called Nazibuilder Turbo you wouldn't use it, right?

@freddy Yes, I didn't immediately want to use this as (yet another) opportunity to also mention #Firefox and #Brave as privacy-advantageous browsers on phones (I feel I have been doing that a lot, lately... 😄).

Browsers adapt, and Android has introduced the local network permission, so the immediate threat discussed in this well-written paper has been (mostly) fixed.

But the main issue remains that these companies maliciously worked around previous limitations that tried to prevent exactly this kind of abusive tracking. Given the ample evidence to date, #Facebook and #Yandex will undoubtedly try some other malware approach in the future. Best to get rid of them from your phones...

On a train to #Dagstuhl, I finally got to read the nice write-up about on-device local-web-to-app tracking: localmess.github.io/assets/bri

TL;DR summary: You might want to uninstall (or deactivate if pre-loaded) all #Facebook and #Yandex apps from your phone. That kind of behavior is pretty clearly malicious - not even just ethically wrong, but seems actually illegal (at least in the EU, though IANAL).

I had a feeling this was happening, but only just now did I actually have a bit more evidence (well, evidence to ME).

I've never heard of these people, and I only interacted with their page earlier today, tossing a 'heart' react on a poor baby fox they were able to save.

Now, suddenly, I'm seeing their posts quite a bit.

Which I get is an algorithmic thing, but apparently I'm FOLLOWING them now? There's no world where this is possible. It's very rare that I 'follow' someone on #Facebook, and it's certainly not going to be some random ass animal rescue association that just popped into my feed earlier today.

(I'm not blaming THEM; odds are they have no idea about any of this.)

If you're one of the handful left on Facebook, you might want to check out who you're following. This smells of forced engagement.

EDIT: YEP! My account is full of people I'm unexpectedly following -- people I've only, at most, clicked 'like' on.

EDIT2: Looks like it's mostly recent stuff, so it's not a flood of stuff. Still, super weird.
