#Microsoft, #Apple, #Facebook and others are in the EXACT same place that #IBM found themselves in 1930s Germany. They are also doing similar things but now they have LinkedIn to really MOTIVATE the evil. This goes beyond #Enshittification, this is what happens when enshittifcation hits the fan.

@avradi This is why Zuckerberg is rich, because people won't make the slightest effort. As for your objections, I haven't had that experience. It was easy to start, I can follow any instance, and there are no bots, no made-up posts designed to test my reactions, and no ads. #Facebook groups has a dozen alternatives, but it might require learning something, so no one explores. You have been sold a bill of goods.

Our first risk-based authentication (RBA) paper reached 100 citations. Thanks to all who read and cited it!
RBA protects over 90% of users without 2FA with strong security and usability. It was the first milestone that showed how websites like #Google, #Amazon, and #Facebook use RBA. Initially hard to publish, the topic is now more critical than ever with rising credential stuffing attacks.

@chris In 2014, I wrote pretty extensively about Facebookʼs bot epidemic (I used those words) and the site was being overwhelmed then. It kept worsening. We know now a lot of those were Russian bots. After a few years, #Facebook stopped removing them, even reported ones. The more bots, the harder for companies to find an audience, the more likely they will pay to boost. Even in 2014 they were chatting to each other to hide their tracks. I can only imagine how much worse it is now.
