How long do we think Zuckerberg has left at Meta? Its been just one debacle after the other. Now theyre doing another 20% of layoffs. Not really the sign of a healthy company.
I do wonder if Meta will become like AOL, just coasting on old users habits and advertising network.

Wer das noch nicht gelesen hat: unbedingt nachholen.
Bin ja ein Sachbuch-Freund. Aber so ein tolles habe ich schon lange nicht gelesen. Wie ein Startup zu einem A*loch-Unternehmen wird. Sehr eindrücklich und krass.
Hoffnung gibt aber: Wie viel Gutes Technologie eigentlich leisten kann - aber dafür braucht es eben auch Menschen, die etwas Gutes erreichen wollen und nicht careless sind.

Wer will hier eigentlich ausweispflicht im internetz, angeblich um die kinder zu schützen?
Wenig überraschend steht das asozjale, spämmige und kriminelle fratzenbuch hinter diesem hirnpflug und hat da mindestens rd. 2 milljarden dollar reingeschmissen [archivversjon des englischsprachigen reddit-beitrages, gefunden via vb’s weblog].
Klar, die möchten zu gern den schon jahrzehntelang eingesammelten pseudonymen datenberg realen menschen zuordnen können. Die kinder sind nur vorgeschoben, wie immer bei solchen p’litischen hirnfickereien.
Die kinder schützt man übrigens am besten mit einem allgemeinen verbot der onlein-reklame. Dann hören von einem moment auf den anderen die ganzen sucht- und stupsalgoritmen auf, weil sie schlicht keinen sinn mehr ergeben. Und das beste daran: es schützt sogar ausgewaxene menschen.

All of big tech is broken, and I'm tired of tolerating it.
I just got forwarded a Google Drive shared folder link through Facebook Messenger. Messenger shows the link as an image preview, even though the image doesn't load, and only text is shown. This renders the clickable area tiny.
Clicking on the link opens it in the embedded browser of the Facebook Messenger app (let's ignore how many trackers they inject into a page for now).

I've finally rid of #meta apps from my #android phone. Now to sort out #google apps & find an alternative #Foss #os for my phone. Unfortunately these phone OS's are either too expensive to buy & use or unavailable for majority of phones out there. I'm already using #Foss app's to replace some of the Google app's.
I'm using @pixelfed instead of #instagram and obviously @Mastodon instead of #facebook. For emails, I've #thunderbird and for #maps I've #osmandapp. I use #fdroid instead of #playstore
