On this self-hosted Docker version of Mastodon that I am running for myself, I like increasing the post limit from 500 to 5000. You can't do this in configuration, only by changing the code of the Mastodon application in two places. They are trivial changes but a drag to do by hand every time.
I got sufficiently weary of this to create a patch file so now I can do this faster but it is still a drag to patch and restart. I have put the patch file in the /config of the Docker volume so the container has easy access to it. What I want to do is put something in the compose.yml to apply the patch once and only once anytime a new container is created. I've been digging through the Docker documentation for Compose and have not seen a way to do that.
Is there a #Docker expert on the #fediverse that can help a brother out?

My learning of today:
Iโm using #podman on my #mac for some time now. In comparison with #docker desktop it comes with no own compose solution. It provides a wrapper for docker-compose instead. But you have to install it separately.
I never had to use it until today. So I researched what to do. When you use #homebrew, itโs quite easy: โbrew install docker-composeโ is all you need. ๐

Nachdem ich hier auf meine Anfrage einige Antworten bekam mit Erklรคrungen und Links habe ich zusรคtzlich mit diesen Antworten als Einstiegspunkt noch ein wenig recherchiert.
Ergebnis: Bei mir auf dem Desktop lรคuft jetzt im #Firefox das #Snowflake AddOn. Ich war erstaunt, dass es schon nach 2 Minuten zum ersten Mal grรผn geworden ist. Wow, das ging ja schnell.
Das Energiemanagement des Rechners habe ich so eingestellt, dass er nicht mehr selbstรคtig in den Standby Modus wechselt. Den Browser lasse ich offen. Somit lรคuft das hier erstmal so weiter.
Ich werde jetzt mal ein wenig suchen, ob ich einen #Docker Container finde fรผr Snowflake. Wenn ja, dann werde ich es in meinen 24/7 laufenden #RaspberryPi in den dort laufenden Docker rein nehmen.
