I'm so glad I got off #Bluesky. Basically, the changes they rolled out about two days ago increase virality. They are essentially setting up a massive cognitohazard zone to push propaganda. They are not just using a typical ML categorization algorithm and telemetry. They are importing cliques via the Starter Pack as subgraphs. The next election is going to be fucking bad.

FYI that's exactly what #bluesky is doing. They are spending VC money and have no business model. As they both stand, #mastodon is sustainable. BS is not. But they have the hype machine that coming out of Twitter and hiding/avoiding the decentralization and the VC money enables. Sometimes the "smart people" either are not, live in a bubble or are lying. But sure we're the assholes for correcting the record.

This reminds me of a number of years back when I had presence on about a half-dozen mini-blogging sites. There were plugins to make cross-posting easy, but it meant disjoint conversations. The problem solved itself when Google killed Plus and (almost) everything succumbed to #Twitter and #FaceBook.
That Twitter and FaceBook #enshittened themselves — on a number of bases — has led to a return to disjoint conversation-spaces. #Fedi was supposed to make it so that that didn't have to be, but #BlueSky decided to do their own thing and #Meta's #Threads is basically radioactive to many of the Fedi admins.
Maybe one day things will reach that "dispersed but linked" nirvana, but that day isn't today.
