They're lying. And honestly, the company they're using for their analytics, Statsig, was just acquired by OpenAI. See here:

To be clear the #ATProtocol borrows some cryptographic principles from blockchain systems, but its model is distinct and more similar to Git-style decentralized data. I'm just saying that it has some of the same clumsiness as block chains. But, I know for a fact many folks on their team are into crypto.
My opinion on the #ATProtocol, as someone who writes software? It’s too complicated.
It uses the same conceptual model as blockchains, dealing with verification and cryptography. You can see that here using my account.

It has similar issues that blockchains have—it’s clunky.
You’re basically dealing with #cryptobros, which is why the astroturfing is so aggressive.

Here is an example of a feed’s algorithm for comparison.
When my #Bluesky account was active, this was a feed I subscribed to. The bsky.app is what I was discussing, which is different from the AT protocol and PDSs.
ATmosphere is a whole other can of worms. I’m specifically referring to Discovery. Honestly, the astroturfing is pissing me off. I’m not saying you’re doing it, but it’s a problem for genuine conversations.

Here is the code for PDSs is on GitHub. Here’s a link to one of the PDS GitHub repositories. People can check it out for themselves.

I'm not saying what is or is not there. What I am saying is people can make up their own minds by seeing the code.

So, I am using a ML enhanced script to track down the little troll that tried to sea lion in my #Mastodon thread and then tried to brigade me on #Bluesky so I could ban all of his accounts on my instance.
OH MY FUCKING GOD! DUDE HAS MORE ACCOUNTS THAN ME! THAT'S INSANE!
I keep looking at these profiles because I'm curious about what makes people so desperate for human contact that they deliberately remain in the worst parts of the internet, whether #Bluesky, #Discord, or the old school days of #4chan. I just want to know what broke them so badly, I suppose.
No, for real. The main hangup people have on #Bluesky seems to be that instances on #Mastodon are run by every day people where they have control over their instance. It's basically #Twitter all fucking over again. It's a group of weird people screaming constantly because they can't abuse people.
Welp, how about that. Seriously, folks. At what point are you going to fucking leave?

That's the beauty of real decentralization: The situation, decision and outcome is not the same for every instance.
Many don't have the problem because they are in a different jurisdiction. Some in the US may do age verification by invite-only anyway. Some may implement automated age verification. Some may block as #bluesky. To name only some few possibilities.
