2/2 re #bluesky -i think people need to keep the bridges open, stay on these platforms, we can’t completely cutoff communication if this is the only way some people communicate (on the internet). It all feels like a trap. We all need to just go back to the actual bar and talk to strangers. This is not working. I just got to the fediverse and I’m not certain I want to be on the internet at all anymore. All feels like honeypots.

1/2 Re: #bluesky Feels like they’re building these networks just to push everyone into their own “bar” - so ideas and causes are separate. Pretty soon we’ll all be separate, no bridges, echo chambers on both sides. They are pushing us into a tiny corner of the internet where they can eventually squash us/lights out?

Did you know you can browse Bluesky posts & profiles without using the official app/website or even making an account? 
Everything on Bluesky is publicly accessible by design, including posts, likes, follows, and blocks (see the “Data Privacy” section of their FAQ: https://bsky.social/about/blog/5-19-2023-user-faq).
Here's a selection of websites that let you view Bluesky posts, profiles, and hashtag feeds without logging in!
Post/Thread Viewers
https://skyview.social – SkyView lets you view any post, including replies in a threaded/tree view, or “unroll” a thread so that the text is displayed in paragraph form instead of replies. Just copy & paste the post URL into the search field. Alt text is displayed next to images (or via the little "Alt" badge on mobile).
https://blue.mackuba.eu/skythread – A more minimalist thread viewer that lets you expand & collapse individual replies. For images, it only shows a link instead of the pic itself, but there is a toggle to show alt text below. Quote posts are displayed in a neat nestled view.
https://blueviewer.pages.dev – An even more minimalist thread viewer. For quote posts, this one doesn't display the original/quoted post. It also doesn't visually display alt text.
Profile Viewers
https://bskyviewer.github.io – Just enter any Bluesky handle and you'll see that user's posts, reblogs, likes, etc. It works for all accounts, but isn't the easiest to navigate and doesn't visually display alt text.
https://blueskyviewer.org – Similar to the above, but with a neater look and a few extra features, like a toggle to see replies on each post. Weirdly, it doesn't properly display quote posts from “login-walled” users, even though it otherwise works for all accounts.
https://clearsky.app – This one only works for profiles you can view on the official Bluesky site/app. However, it also lets you see what lists someone is on, what content labels have been applied to their posts, and any starter packs they've created. Alt text is displayed below images. The front page also has some Bsky stats, like the total account number, most blocked users and more.
https://skytools.anon5r.com/profile – Similar to ClearSky, but more minimalist. Doesn't visually display alt text.
Hashtag Search
https://blue.mackuba.eu/skythread (again) – This site also lets you do a hashtag search! Just enter any tag and it'll show you a chronological feed of tagged posts. It seems to only fetch a limited number of posts, but it does include “login-walled” ones.
https://www.redgazer.com/bsky/hashtag – A hashtag search tool for image posts specifically! It shows them in a grid view, and you have to click on the image to see the full post text. You can then click on the user handle and see all the image posts from that user!
⚠️ Two warnings for this one: I'm pretty sure it doesn't filter out NSFW pics (or any other content you may not want to see), so be careful! Also, when you click into an image there's an “edit with AI” option, which I strongly advise you not to use.
