If your aproto (Bluesky) implementation/appview/whatever need to use cdn.bsky.app et al for showing media, there isn't much digital sovereignty in what you offer.

Wenn „W“ erst Ende des Jahres online gehen soll, worüber reden wir dann, nur ein weiteres Zukunftsprojekt. Beim Fedi hatten wir immer wieder festgestellt, dass es trotz seiner Schwächen läuft und etabliert ist. Andere waren noch bei Bluesky, weil sich baldige ATProto Projekte ankündigten. Die Frage ist, ob man die Politik von Bluesky noch mittragen will, weil sich irgendwann eine Wechselmöglichkeit aufzeigt. Ob dieser Wechsel Sinn machen wird, hängt wesentlich davon ab, inwieweit es wirklich eine von BigTech unabhängige Struktur ist. Wir haben also eine Unsicherheit. Kann man also angesichts der jüngsten Probleme (ICE etc.) wirklich auf Bluesky bleiben oder müsste man es nicht vielmehr verlassen und später, wenn wirklich Alternativen auf dem Markt sind, überlegen, ob eine zum Fediverse ergänzende Nutzung sinnvoll ist.

I'd been on Bluesky since 2023, and it took about 20 minutes to download my full timeline - including images and videos, and then another few seconds to make it into a viewable, searchable archive.
