Auto-import of deny lists

NodeBB has a very simple allow/deny list capability at present. You paste in a bunch of newline-separated domains, and we block (or optionally, only allow) them all.

On the road to more fine-grained controls, I discovered that IFTAS publishes a Do Not Interact list in an importable CSV format.

While working on my platform, I thought of something. Federation is becoming more and more a thing and it's going to continue. However, here on the darknet we're seeing pretty much none of it. There is Mitra which has federation and Tor/i2p support, and there are some other ActivityPub based platforms like Pleroma or Akkoma. However, it is used virtually nowhere else.

So my thinking is: Wouldn't it make more sense if everything from darknet forums and markets were federated? Rather than having a central platform, such as Dread or a DNM, each individual vendor or a group of vendors could host an instance. They could list their products and that instance then federates with all the other instances. It could function similarly to Mitra by using the ActivityPub protocol and thereby each "Market instance" would show many different vendors. If one of those instances gets taken down, the rest of the network stays up. This makes it virtually impossible to take all of them down. And, if anyone can set up a fresh instance in less than an hour, it would strengthen the darknet considerably. The same applies with forums. You can sign up on one instance, but access all the other ones. Or you could create a whitelist, blacklist, or just a private collection.

For the purpose of federation, we could either use Tor or i2p. The instances would be accessible via Tor or i2p and could federate using the ActivityPub protocol via i2p.

This isn't a be–all and end–all solution, but is entirely doable and would be a nice addition to both Tor and i2p.

Any thoughts?

You may notice the Follow button on Loops.video is clickable even when logged-out.

I added a modal that explains how to remote follow, isn't that neat?

What a feeling...

Finally seeing federated interactions with loops.video content 🥹

I promised this nearly a year ago, and it's now here.

The new Loops app is even better, stay tuned 🚀

Ok, this is a long shot, but has anyone developed something that takes a Google calendar or iCal feed and turns it into an activitypub events feed?
