in #activitypub, an remote actor may or may not have an icon, which essentially it's the actor's avatar metadata information.
but in #mastodon api, the icon object doesn't have an "id" field, so i cannot correctly map this icon into a more generic "attachments" table (because it requires the presence of id field) in my local instance when i import the remote actor.
some ppl created icon as jsonb to facilitate this non-generic "icon" field.
which isn't a great solution in its api design.

The most exciting thing to me about #ActivityPub and the #Fediverse is that they also connect #blogs, #RSS, and #indieweb social mentions to #socialmedia in an open, interoperable way.
Frustrating, though, that mainstream users tend to ignore noncommercial solutions that aren't aggressively trying to attract them, especially when the onboarding experience is so confusing to newbies. Even if our tech platforms are ready for prime time, the human networks are only early adopter types.

WP group actor ID URL encoded?
Hi @pfefferle@mastodon.social, I was trying to figure out something else (which I'll ask in a separate topic), and then went down a rabbit-hole when I discovered I could no longer find @notiz.blog (:point_left: see, no link!)
NodeBB was unable to retrieve the Group actor because the webfinger response notes its' ID as https://notiz.blog/%40notiz.blog; note the %40. Possibly related, the actor self-reports its own ID as that value as well.

Layout bei Indieblocks-Plugin anpassen
Wie in einem anderen Artikel schon erwähnt, bin ich gerade am experimentieren, dass ich diesen Wordpress-Blog mittels dem ActivityPub-Plugin "Fediverse-tauglich" mache. Das ist eine recht interessante Reise, bei der es immer wieder Hürden zu nehmen gibt. Aktuell verwende ich das Wordpress-Plugin "Indieblocks", um "Kurzmitteilungen" (aka "Notes" für kurze Texte wie bei Twitter) und "Likes" (für URLs zum Merken) zu veröffentlichen. Diese unterscheiden sich von "normalen Wordpress-Posts" hauptsächlich durch ihre Länge bzw. den Umfang. Das funktioniert für mich schon soweit ganz gut und ich nutze diese "Kurzmitteilungen" auch oft, um für mich selbst Seiten, Themen oder URLs zu merken.
