I make a feed reader called BlogCat (https://blogcat.org), it is a #Firefox #WebExtension that makes blogging an integral feature of Firefox. For example, right now I'm typing on a sidebar compose window while I browse.
Recently, I started doing #selfhosting and #homelab with #yunohost and set up my own #GoToSocial server which is running this identity you're reading.
Thanks to using a different server than Mastodon, I noticed that status character limits are not fixed. The default value for GoToSocial is much larger than Mastodon default 500 that I hardcoded in.
Now, I patched BlogCat to query the server about such limits thus improving the experience for both Mastodon and GoToSocial and other Mastodon-compatible servers.
Being able to have multiple compatible visions on the #fediverse is what makes it so powerful. Quite happy with this.

Hab heute versucht, mit #Yunohost einen eigenen fedi server hochzuziehen.
Da #akkoma nicht zur auswahl stand dann halt #pleroma.
Hab mich aber zu dumm angestellt und lĂ€uft nicht, aus ungeloggten GrĂŒnden.
Nun gut, dann teste ich es morgen halt mit nur akkoma direkt auf einem server, ohne hilfslayer.
Meine #nextcloud lĂ€uft so schlieĂlich auch, so unfĂ€hig kann ich also nicht sein.

Jeg har ikke i nÊrheten nok GPU-kraft pÄ hjemmeserveren til Ä dra noe AI egentlig, sÄ 90% av modellene kan jeg ikke legge inn og selv denne som skal vÊre lettdrevet bruker opp mot flere minutter pÄ Ä produsere svar, men gÞy Ä se hvor enkelt det faktisk er Ä sette opp en egen lokal AI-tjeneste.

my #gotosocial admin settings page is dispaying blank. I can see a react error 301 (which seems to be too much recursion or reentry) in the console. This is a fresh install with #yunohost
Anyone experiencing this? Plz boost

I've been banging my head against #Yunohost's #Sharkey implementation all day, there's something that makes the instance crash and automatically reboot up to once a minute.
For the frontend it results in a 502 error every once in a while, but for the backend it results in dropped connections. It might be something to do with websocket connection refusal, it might be with malformed RSV 1/2/3 requests.
I don't have the skills to manually troubleshoot and I can't find any resources on the issues as it seems rather niché. And it's too complex for me to find the time to deep-dive into the tech.
Considering a different platform like Friendica or Glitch-Soc or even giving up on self-hosting and signing up for a different Sharkey instance as it's truly the most beautiful and sleek SoMe platform I've tried.

Yunohost works wonderfully in my old macbook pro 2011 (updated to the max, 16 gbs + 2 gbs hd). Now is time to replace the termal paste to ensure it doesnt get too hot.
