Basic HTML tables โ†’ okay, it works.
Gutenberg table blocks โ†’ a little better.
Advanced table plugins โ†’ getting somewhere.
TableKit with media, animations, sync data & full control โ†’ now we're talking.

TableKit gives you everything โ€” drag & drop builder, embedded videos, buttons, ratings, live data sync, and stunning animations. All inside Gutenberg. Zero coding.

Pook-Emu Bee: Links For 04-23-26

Delayed by work, but not denied, The drags on, Pook-Emu Bee links for April 23, 2026. 1. Hochul's Fast-Track Booze Permit Sets Stage for World Cup Street Parties Across New York (Reid Carlisle for Hoodline. April 22, 2026.) Their desperation to pretend that the World Cup is happening in New York City continues to lead to public nuisance as public policy. 2. Listening to criticism (Andrรฉs at Wawawa Comics. April 22, 2026.) But my art teacher hated my work so much, I could hear his sighs [โ€ฆ]

This is exactly why "install more plugins" is dangerous advice. Security is one risk, but untested plugins also silently degrade performance.

We benchmarked 5,127 plugins. 34% have measurable negative impact โ€” many never got a code review.

If you wouldn't skip a security audit, don't skip a performance audit.

WordPress handles 43% of the web. That's not dying โ€” that's dominance.

What's actually happening: the gap between well-optimized and poorly-optimized WP sites is getting wider. The "AI will replace everything" crowd never benchmarked a site with 400+ DB queries per page.

Tools matter. Discipline matters more.

The provider-agnostic AI API in WP 7.0 is interesting โ€” but I hope core keeps an eye on performance implications.

Every AI call is a blocking network request during page generation. We've seen plugins add 200-800ms this way.

The abstraction is good. The question is whether devs will cache responses or hit the AI on every page load.

WordPress White Screen of Death? Don't panic.

1. Check PHP error logs first
2. Disable plugins via FTP (rename /plugins/ folder)
3. Switch to default theme
4. Increase PHP memory limit

Ooh for all lefties who only operate their phone with their thumb, a.k.a. myself. I added a left-handed option on mobile in the accessibility menu in my theme. ๐Ÿค“

Originally I wanted the buttons in the middle, I tried it, but it was nasty, this is much better!

@KarenCampe One of them might be human, the others smell of 'bots.

I'm unfamiliar with #WordPress and don't know anything about the implications.

Why am I still seeing so many job ads for #Elementor sites?? #Gutenberg is bad enough, but at least it's native to #WordPress now and does the same thing.

Better yet though, stop using all of these heavy buggy drag-n-drop solutions that output junk code.

#ACF Flexible Layouts a good middle ground. Flexible enough to allow the client customization w/o breaking design guidelines, no junk code output or buggy admin, a bit of customization makes it even easier to use.
