Your wp_options table has a dirty secret: the autoload column.

Every option set to "yes" loads on EVERY page request. Some plugins dump megabytes of data there.

One SQL query to check your damage:
SELECT SUM(LENGTH(option_value)) FROM wp_options WHERE autoload="yes"
