Well, my new blog is mostly up. Still trying to figure out the ActivityPub plugin and how the blog works as an instance. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

@thisisrarae wants to build an online craft shop but is getting frustrated with her tools for building it. I setup a wordpress site and she found a theme and some promising looking plugins but getting it to layout right has been a frustrating process and I'm not much help with frontend stuff like this. The Wordpress editor is sort of WYSIWYG but not very intuitive.

Does the nerd hive mind have any recommendations? Better wordpress themes/plugins? Alternatives to wordpress?

It's been an interesting experiment of using WordPress #ActivityPub Plugin to publish a group blog - alongside an email newsletter. It's been more work than I expected. The only things that got more than a few likes and boosts were about Fediverse people.

More recently, changes to either the plugin or Mastodon's rendering has lost the paragraph breaks which makes it not as good for publishing/reading long-form as other APub tools (https://social.coop/@nicol/116091692977030421). The roadmap for the plugin (https://activitypub.blog/2026/02/11/roadmap-2026-charting-the-stars-of-the-open-social-web/) seems more about reading than growing #WordPress to be a Fediverse publishing powerhouse, tho improving discoverability is promising - most of the authors suffer from the "no posts here!" problem when you visit the author urls.

Anyway, links should trickle out - finishing with an interview I'm really excited to share, having sat on it for five years…

plugins, mises à jour, agent autonome.
Moins de clics. Plus de contrôle.
