WordPress security basics most sites skip:

1. Change the default login URL (/wp-admin)
2. Disable XML-RPC if you don't need it
3. Limit login attempts (free plugin: Limit Login Attempts Reloaded)
4. Remove the WordPress version from your HTML source
5. Use a security header plugin (like Headers Security)

Takes 20 minutes, blocks 90% of automated attacks.

WordPress 7.0 is delayed a few weeks (new date TBD by Apr 22).

Good time to prep:
- Test your theme/plugins on the RC2 release in staging
- Back up everything now, not on launch day
- Check if your host has a one-click rollback

The real-time collab feature needed more work on the data storage layer. Better delayed than broken.

Quick WCAG win for small sites: add alt text to every image, use heading hierarchy (h1 > h2 > h3), and check color contrast ratio (4.5:1 minimum). These three fixes alone cover most accessibility audit failures.

WordPress 7.0 just dropped — biggest core update in years.

Before you hit update on your production site:

1. Back up your database and files
2. Check theme/plugin compatibility (especially page builders)
3. Test on staging if you have one

Most hosts let you restore from a backup in minutes if anything breaks.

Cloudflare made a WordPress for AI agents

image via theverge.com

Cloudflare, the cloud provider that connects millions of sites to the internet, wants to “fix” another digital giant: WordPress. It announced a new open-source system, called EmDash, that’s supposed to address the “core problems that WordPress cannot solve” — and they want to do it by allowing AI agents to take control of your website.
