Well, it turns out that Foundation models are not great at suggesting REAL programming languages and tag names that would relate to those languages. I tell it to return real modern programming languages and it returns package names. I tell it not to return package or framework names as programming language names and then it starts hallucinating languages that don’t exist like “Pythoneer”…really? I tell it not to hallucinate and it still does.

Even something as simple as “Don’t return tag names with more than one word” it cannot follow these instructions.

Oh well, guess I will rip this out.

Found some issues with both iPadOS and tvOS, but nothing too horrible, so tomorrow let's start to tackle the show stoppers, then check visionOS and macOS. See you then!

I'm making a seasonal anime guide app, in the open for all to experience and learn from.

Another short stream, but let's build for other platforms and see what breaks!

#TIL: If you see your animations breaking totally unrelated parts of view (like navbar buttons) in #SwiftUI, you may try changing `onAppear` to `task` when triggering animations 😵‍💫

Are you also making a big beautiful pile of if `(iOS 26, *)` these days?

For @SwiftUIisGreat, I’m reluctant to boost posts about problems that might be due to iOS 26 being a beta.

For example, in October 2024, I bookmarked a toot about problems with toolbars in #SwiftUI. Given the importance of toolbars, I’m sure they work flawlessly by now.

Boosting beta-bugs would be silly, wouldn’t it?
Just about all of them will be fixed in RC1 or RC2 anyways.

So you‘re telling me nobody at Apple is using widgets in dark mode, saw that they have weird artifacts in the background and no one fixed it?

I have a progress indicator bar that has a context menu. In iOS 26 the whole indicator transforms into the context menu (WHY?!)... How can I disable this?

Started doing some and knowledge gardening here: swiftui-garden.com/

Claude helped tremendously with picking the right tools and brought the duct tape to customize everything to my taste. LLM's being capable of translating English to code is quite something.

I am as excited about this empowerment as I am worried about the increasing pace of everything.

It doesn't usually work like this, but maybe we can use this rad progress ... to slow down a little?
