Im Auftrag der EU-Initiative Saferinternet.at wurde die repräsentative Online-Umfrage "Jugend-Internet-Monitor Österreich 2026" durchgeführt. Unter anderem zeigte sich, dass 11- bis 17-jährige Österreicher*innen am häufigsten WhatsApp (82 %) nutzen, gefolgt von YouTube (76 %) und Snapchat (65 %). Interessant in diesem Zusammenhang ist, dass sich insgesamt ein Rückgang hinsichtlich der Nutzung von Social-Media-Angeboten zeigt.

Das ist mein erster Beitrag auf der Plattform und ich fühle mich tatsächlich noch etwas verloren 😶🌫️ Aber vielleicht verrate ich vorab meine Gründe, warum ich hier bin:
- Ich finde die Grundidee von Social Media super
- Ich finde, dass die Social Media Riesen diesen Sinn völlig verloren haben
- Ich finde, dass unsere persönlichen Daten nicht als kommerzielle Produkte verkauft werden sollten
Daher bin ich auf die europäische Variante umgestiegen.

That said, I think it's important that any regulations on social media platforms clearly distinguish between stuff that's public (subject to Media Council and other regulators), and stuff that's subscribers-only, or sent directly to specific people (covered by full freedom of expression protections).
