BBC: AI videos of sexualised black women removed from TikTok after BBC investigation. “The BBC and researchers from the independent AI publication Riddance found dozens of accounts on the two platforms featuring highly sexualised black female digital characters or avatars. The images and videos were generated by AI but not labelled as such, in apparent breach of the platforms’ guidelines.”

Honestly, the best way to limit both government and corporate overreach is to make enforcing those things difficult.
If every OS is volunteer made in different parts of the world, it’s hard to force them to add age checks. If they’re all by big companies, it’s not. If every community has its own forum or site, copyright trolls and questionable DMCA notices are harder to send or act on than if everyone uses Reddit or Discord.
