And here I'm gonna take off the content warning and speak more directly, tagging Mr. @anildash in as well because this matter does involve him—not JUST him but everyone who talks freely about craziness and insanity and mental illness in public and on #socialmedia, as a sort of "get out of an argument free" card.
Mr. Dash and myriads of other professional persons online, when challenged by someone they don't know and don't like the look of, have been able to exploit an easy out: they say that the challenger must surely be *insane*. Dash and other such persons try to live lives untroubled by dissenting voices as much as possible, and social media gives them the benefits of a miniaturized *celebrity*, an online experience in which they're surrounded by fans, or at least an obsequious Internet following.
They are apt to think of this bubbled microcelebrity experience as simply *normal*, and regard ANY disruption for any reason as catastrophic, malicious, even *insane*.
