Okay, the rough plan for PIO is using it to drive my stepper. I’ll feed in values to TX FIFO representing the delay between steps sent to the TMC2209, with steps being fixed duration high pulses. For my use-case, I’m thinking about pre-generating the step delays in memory and feeding in with DMA—maybe splitting the words to represent both a delay and number of steps for said delay.
