@b4ux1t3 I agree it's pretty great 😀 #pytest in particular is one of my favorite pieces of software to work with
I gotta say, #python testing seems to have gotten a lot better than the last time I worked with it regularly. That was probably a decade ago, though.

Nominate a Djangonaut for the 2025 Malcolm Tredinnick Memorial Prize
Hello Everyone 👋 It is that time of year again when we recognize someone from our community in memory of our friend Malcolm.
Malcolm was an early core contributor to Django and had a huge influence on Django as we know it today. Besides being knowledgeable he was also especially friendly to new users and contributors. He exemplified what it means to be an amazing Open Source contributor. We still miss him to this day.
The prize
Our prizes page summarizes it nicely:
The Malcolm Tredinnick Memorial Prize is a monetary prize, awarded annually, to the person who best exemplifies the spirit of Malcolm’s work - someone who welcomes, supports, and nurtures newcomers; freely gives feedback and assistance to others, and helps to grow the community. The hope is that the recipient of the award will use the award stipend as a contribution to travel to a community event -- a DjangoCon, a PyCon, a sprint -- and continue in Malcolm’s footsteps.
Please make your nominations using our form: 2025 Malcolm Tredinnick Memorial Prize nominations. Nominations are welcome from everyone.
We will take nominations until Saturday, September 27th, 2025, 23:59 Anywhere on Earth, and will announce the results in early October. If you have any questions please use our dedicated forum thread or contact the DSF Board.

I have spent the last few days implementing a Diif viewer for Toad.
It supports unified and split view diffs, with line-level highlights.
Rather pleased with the results!

Found myself updating vim powerline & cleaning up some crufty, ancient configs.
This managed to break powerline working inside of Python venvs.
Adding the following line to my `/etc/vim/vimrc` configuration got powerline working properly again:

Starting to learn how to use #testcontainers with #python for #pyinfra. It's an itch I had.
Been meaning to build up everything with pyinfra. But I need tests. In #ansible world, I had tests for everything using Molecule. It worked well enough, but was quite complex.
However, with pyinfra, the tests can be isolated integration test containers! 😎
Now I can go crazy with the amount of tests for every operation done. 😆

I just finished a great documentation called *Python: The Documentary | An origin story*. See https://youtu.be/GfH4QL4VqJ0?si=YJQpmGIiTcfJv6Mh. I really enjoyed it!
#Python has played a big role in my life since I first started using it more than 25 years ago. The software for my PhD was written in Python and I got deeply involved with the #Mercurial community back around 2010. It has really touched the lives of a lot of people!
