Speaking of Stories, they are quite unique in the fediverse.
We've federated Stories in @pixelfed for several years using bearcaps that expire after 15 minutes.
Meaning that only Pixelfed servers are able to handle and fetch the activity, and we also rotate the media urls after 30 mins.
We federate Stories using an object (with a Story type) like:
```
bear:?t=Tg8cKH1DGwBoZVQEuPaWFyMdcKHmUZd6Ow0DjCxkS80UKQ7hiHMpi6CWgxOoxJhk&u=https://pixelfed.social/stories/dansup/1
```
Working on a few new Story features like Public Stories, Post Embeds, Mentions and Links.
Unlike IG, you won't need 10k followers to add a link to your Story in @pixelfed, everyone will have that ability ✨
And one more thing, all these new features will federate 🚀
I finished building the Story Composer for @PixelFed ✨
We're not quite ready to deploy this yet, with these new interactive elements I need to:
- Store them with hitSlop dimensions
- Render the links in both webUI and mobile
- Update federation to handle the interactive layer
And eventually publish a FEP for this, we already have Stories on web, and I can't wait to bring them to our mobile app!

@askfedi_de

New TestFlight releases for @pixelfed and @loops are rolling out ✨

It's not the number of #Hashtags, it's their clear relevance to the post (text or image) at hand
(I'll name names...)
#Pixelfed seems to have a cultural bias toward long lists of hashtags, many of which have no direct or even indirect relevance to the specific image in the post -- sometime using 15 or 20 or more hashtags
It's just simple #HashtagSpam
At least PIxelfed has gotten away from the original format of one hashtag per line -- now they're all in a block
Still too many are simply irrelevant to the photo subject, the camera used, or the post-processing technique -- they're just noise
