When a few weeks ago a friend asked me for a free and open-source alternative to Instagram, I mentioned #Pixelfed. I hadn’t ever used it so far, but I decide it to give it a shot today.
I signed up to the largest instance not hosted in the US (gram.social, hosted in Germany). Sign-up was pretty smooth. The captcha sucked, but they always do – and it was a type I hadn’t ever encountered before (you had to fit a correctly shaped pipe into a pipe system). So far so good.
