I learned programming starting from bulbs, batteries, switches... and transistor, then logic gates then BASIC. You know, that kind stuck with we and I did my best to steer clear from crappy tech w/o future. I ignored #Perl in favour of #Pythom, I did my part of #VisualBasic, however. I developed PTSD from #JavaScript in early '00s, steer clear since. #PHP become synonym of junk, avoided as well.
Embedded Systems are my preferred environment.

Good for you if that's all you care, I think. After all, the more you align acritically with the interests of those in power, the smoother your life is going to be. They are not going to hurt or annoy you too much. In a way, it's a wise approach. Just don't forget to teach your kids to teach their kids to do the same... and you'll be fine.
But don't dismiss what I wrote as "idealism". I write corporate software fot a living too, I use and used all of the most hyped technologies we have had in the last 25 years (shit how old I am). I wrote enterprise software in #C, #Java, #Csharp, #Python, #PHP, #Haskell, tons of #JavaScript, all sort of frameworks, all sort of platform. I have used all sort of software design techniques, development techniques, deployment techniques, all sort of automated deployment in really challenging environments. I write code, design architecture and infrastructure to make large teams integrate seamlessy.
So it's not "idealism".
I'm neither ideal nor an idealist.
I'm just painfully aware.

Currently failing to understand how someone can say they are unsure about the future of #php and yet be very sure about the future of #laravel. Yes there is an issue with getting #php in front of new devs & corporate decision makers, yes #AI homogenisation is an issue (that goes beyond php), but further dividing the php community seems unlikely to solve anything.
