Can someone tell me re @peertube
Why does it say on top of videos that watching a video may reveal my IP address to others. Is this not fixable? Is this considered acceptable? Because it seems like a vulnerability and unnecessary exposure.

I’ve opened a PeerTube account so that I can upload videos of me playing covers of copyrighted material that YouTube blocks (e.g. Ozzy Osbourne songs). It’s working great, but I wondered something…

Is it a better idea to upload:
1) the full high-quality uncompressed render and let PeerTube handle all the transcoding and compression at their end, or
2) a compressed H265/AAC file that I create in Handbrake so that I control the initial options, and presumably save space?

If my PeerTube account had limited storage, I would guess 2, but it is unlimited so that’s not really a concern. I guess 1, in that case?

I am an Aviation enthusiast but have significant concerns with the environmental impact, so if Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne was connected by high speed rail I’d use it, even though it might take a bit longer for the one leg. TBH it is not that much different factoring in bag drop, waiting, boarding, flying, disembarking, luggage wait, transit from airport.
Considering rail in the future would be getting more and more renewables-powered, it needs to be done sooner than later.

Wow, the #peertube app has gotten really good. Searching across the fediverse of peertube instances has gotten a lot smoother.
I was using #NewPipe for watching peertube videos until now, but it was limited in only being able to browse/search one instance at a time. On top of that you had to manually add and curate your list of instances.
