I prefer to share my #music freely on my #PeerTube (#Makertube) channel (which is managed by @tkb0iz@makertube.net); Bandcamp/Faircamp/Mirlo already offer pay-what-you-want options, but I don't really want any compensation, and, last I checked, it doesn't seem like they have an option to make products "strictly free" either.
I have 0 interest in making money out of music as it is strictly more of a hobby for me rather than a career, and I already have a stable job. Even if I were to be unemployed or unemployable (I hope not), I would still not want to do things like sell downloads, physical media, merch, etc. However, given the fact that everything I share is under CC BY-SA (without the Non-Commercial part that normally restricts others from using my work for commercial purposes), I am not exactly interested in stopping other people from taking my work and making it into something new, for profit or not, as long as credit is appropriately given. I don't want to turn into that kind of gatekeeper. However I do not allow AI to train on my work, and I would prefer it to not be used for crypto/NFT related projects either.

They are merging in pursuit of short-term profit. But to the degree they are trying to further lock us into one content app and then charge more for it, I think we're going to end that.
The obvious future of online video is a decentralized YouTube, hopefully with creators paid directly for time spent with their work. The promise of #peertube plus #owncast.
Make a show/movie, put it on your website and we spread the word on fedi. How it should be. Let's make it happen.
