When publishing educational videos on #youtube you expose learners to distractions. The promotions which run are made to be maximally distracting. If you want the watchers to learn from your content, you can help them by publishing on a platform which does not show promotions like #peertube or #Nebula

Finalmente è arrivato il giorno in cui #YouTube mi censura il video su come scaricare video con strumenti FOSS, guarda caso proprio quando stava raggiungendo le 6000 visualizzazioni. Si sa da anni che questo sito è ormai una dittatura, perciò ho una presenza su #PeerTube e #Odysee. Tenterò comunque di farmelo rimettere, ma non credo si risolverà niente.

Hmm, installing peertube through a reverse proxy is nontrivial, and definitely not a "it's getting late, I'm sleepy" operation. (I have policy of not mucking around with network settings, critical system parameters, etc. right before going to bed, LOL) #peertube

Okay, I'm putting my movies where my mouth is. I've set up a recurring MakerTube donation on Patreon, and I'm going to start adding the woodworking videos I already have on YouTube. Hopefully this will encourage some other video-woodworkers to join PeerTube as well. Maybe it will kick me into finishing two videos that I've had raw footage for, for about a year.
This one is the first woodworking how-to I put on YT. In putting it on MakerTube, I learned that I hadn't done captions for it - oops! The MT auto-captioner seemed to get all the words, but TERRIBLE timing. So I've spent the afternoon writing captions. If you're a caption user, please let me know what you think! I have no training, and just write them in a way that feels useful to me.

#peertube just has way too many reposts of content that the creator didn't share to Peertube themselves. Such as this account I found that's reposting videos from most of the biggest tech channels on YouTube technology@tube.blueben.net. Is there any way to report stuff like this?
