Almost any discussion about sustaining open-source funding boils down to one of two options: make big companies donate into a voluntary fund (never works) or reinvent communism without saying "communism" out loud

The HeiChips Summer School 2025 was a blast! (heichips.github.io)

I presented Greyhound and gave a LibreLane workshop. You can check it out here: github.com/FPGA-Research/heich

At the hackathon, groups worked on various designs, which were implemented with LibreLane and will be integrated into a chip to be taped out using the open source IHP 130nm PDK.

Stay tuned!

Are we really solving the right problems, or are we just copying existing proprietary products? This is the number one question for any #floss project.

Most projects miss the mark and instead just try to emulate or copy the proprietary product. Considering the man/woman-power this may be wise, and if so you need to play your marketing of the project in a similar fashion.

"Foo done right", "Bar like you've never thought possible.", or similar.

Flip the story, make it your own!
