Unbelievable to see this on GitHub :)

I've installed @penpot locally!
I'm absolutely proud of myself for doing so successfully ๐
And I'm also really pleased with the front-end approach it has! I'm migrating/adapting my WordPress Block Themes designs from Figma as a way to get familiar with the UI, and I'm surprised so far with how much these two systems match. I'm really excited as I've been mulling over switching for a long time! ๐

Do not forget to always patch your Linux / BSD distributions wherever they may reside.
Forgetting to do so may open up your systems for known exploits which is easily avoidable, from the InfoSec perspective

...which makes me think: wait! Why *doesn't* the Internet Archive have an archive of source code? They have all this traditional media.
I mean, if the Internet Archive thinks it is worth saving an obscure Weird Al Yankovic video like https://archive.org/details/als-brain-2009, then...why not archive source code for open source projects?
Thinking about this, it seems pretty obvious. They should have some kind of read-only Github or Codeberg-like interface for source code. Ideally it would support VCS's other than git. It would have the VCS history, and perhaps an issues and wiki section, too. Even just being git-only and working like a read-only Github/Codeberg/Gitlab would be worthwhile, IMO.

In the 90s, I was one of quite a few angry linux-evangelizing teenagers who hated Microsoft with the kind of all-consuming passion usually only available to the blissfully young and inexperienced.
Microsoft were doing Horrible Things with the power they had as owners of the most widely deployed Operating System on the planet. But it could have been worse.
Imagine if Microsoft (and what the hell, maybe also IBM) had basically invented the whole concept of the Computer Operating System in 1991. Imagine if there had been no Unix, and hence no minix, no linux, and no BSD for kids like me who wanted to fight the power.
I would have _screamed in the face_ of anyone who didn't stop me fast enough: Operating systems are Stupid and Evil, and we should all write Proper Programs that Microsoft can't own.
