$That's where all the #homelab abominations usually start,mine as well as you may figured.
Truth is,use whatever hardware you could find, because the main point is to integrate #opensource , #freesoftware as far as possible in your day-to-day operations.
Even a good old Pixel 4 with a few IO upgrades and careful tinkering in Termux can easily become your own server,heck it would probably be even more convenient then #raspberrypi at this point.
