Does anyone remember #Google saying that the #AOSP would, as part of their changes to #AOSP #OpenSource development, only get security backports once per quarter instead of monthly?

This thread has a long (multi-year) history of monthly backport releases until, until now.

Is this Google trying to put non-Google approved Android distributions at a further disadvantage?
