For those of you with a dual boot setup, what are you running, and why?

Is it for trying out different systems, juggling projects, or just because you like having the freedom to switch things up?

It’s always fun to see the creative ways users make the most of their machines! :)

The Garden of Peace: A Journey of Compassion and Understanding

In a quiet village nestled between the misty hills of the north, there lived a young girl named Lila, no older than fourteen. She had a small, weathered notebook tucked under her arm, filled with sketches of birds, flowers, and the gentle faces of the people she met on her daily walks.

Lila had always felt a quiet restlessness in her heart. While other children played games and chased after the sun, she found solace in the whispers of the wind and the soft rustle of leaves. She would sit by the river, watching the water flow, and dream of a world where conflict was a distant memory, where people lived without fear.

One day, while helping her grandfather in the garden, she noticed a small, wounded sparrow on the ground. Its wing was broken, and it couldn’t fly. Lila carefully picked it up, cradling it in her hands. She took it to the village healer, who told her that the sparrow would live only if it could be nursed back to health.

With the healer’s help, Lila spent days tending to the sparrow, feeding it and cleaning its wounds. When the bird finally healed, she released it back into the wild, and it soared into the sky with a song that echoed through the village.

From that day on, Lila dedicated her life to peace. She organized gatherings where children could share their stories and learn to listen to each other. She taught the village elders how to mediate disputes with a gentle, patient approach, often using the sparrow as a symbol of hope and healing.

Years passed, and Lila became a legend in the village. Her heart was a garden of compassion, her voice a calm breeze that soothed even the most troubled souls. She believed that peace was not just the absence of war, but the presence of understanding and kindness in every heart.

On her 18th birthday, Lila stood at the edge of the river, watching the sparrow fly overhead. She smiled, knowing that the seed of peace had grown into a tree that would never be cut down.

This story was generated on a System76 Meerkat operating with Linux Mint 22.2 using the open source Jan.ai locally hosted large language model. The writing prompt was: “Write a short story about a young person who dedicates their life to peace.”

Reporting an issue to some #openSource projects is a pain in the process. This is because the desktop app seems to NOT have a tool to report a bug, and the project seems to use another code repo service I don't have account at, so I had to create an account there as well.
The most annoying question was about reason to register there.
"Hey, guys, I want to invite you to eat lobsters together!" - did they expect answers like that?
Annoying.
