Thinking about open source games and... content.

A game, but also a game editor. Closed source games sometimes have that, but there are Orwellian license agreements, and you never get access to the tools (and source) that the developers have. Open source games could take that to the next level, even making it part of the gameplay. Each player could have a world or realm that they connect with their friends, and make pictures, objects, even whole scenarios as part of playing the game. Maybe people would take turns playing "game master" like with TTRPGs, and everyone else would voluntarily limit themselves, to follow the rules set by that player (NOT the devs).

I mean players will already voluntarily limit themselves to destroy their entire 100 hour playthrough after one little mistake, so voluntarily agreeing to not peek around behind the walls of the GM's dungeon wouldn't be so hard.

And even people who peek, or otherwise game the system, how could they ever take advantage of that? The best they could do is pretend they didn't see anything, and secretly try to nudge the gameplay towards discovering the secrets, which is basically doing the GM's work for them.

Obviously we've been trained differently, to ruthlessly, desperately screw over our friends taking every advantage, and acting like it's their fault for not stopping us. There are whole games among us devoted to just that, and nothing else. But with open source... we don't have to listen to the developer who tells us that we must drown in paranoia and suspicion to properly play.

One feature in LibreOffice that I find SO useful, is the "Export Directly as PDF".

Literally one click and a popup window is there. Nice! Certainly easier than in Excel.

I have been using LibreOffice at work, especially Calc and Draw. I started using Draw as a replacement for Visio for creating Specification Sheets for new products.

Works rather well overall, although I've had to do a bit creative research for figuring out a few odd quirks, and diagramming tricky products.

But overall, it has done a fine job, and I'll keep at it.

🚀 devs have spent two years collecting coins in a jar, only to realize they need a hero to them from their own ineptitude. 😅 With a project as stale as grandma's cookies, they're now shouting into the void for a savior. 🦸‍♂️

DHH pulling a self-coup on the Ruby community wasn't on my radar.

I honestly thought it was gonna be harder than the WP one, in the end all he needed was a billionaire fascist backer and some yes men proxies to find him the perfect excuse to pull the trigger.
