@arclight @jannem @rhempel @0xabad1dea @pyOpenSci I just started to work on a bot (all contributors) that thousands of people use. And the deps hadn't been updated in years, and the workflows and actions WEREN'T hardened. Stravalib is a 10+year old Python package, and I ran into similar security issues when I started working on it. This is a #opensource challenge not just a research software challenge.

I've worked with scientists for over 20 years, and I currently maintain two packages - one on PyPI and another is a bot and app that uses NPM for deps. I see the same issues you're talking about with research software in the broader #opensource space.
IMO if we teach workshops like our @pyOpenSci packaging one and raise awareness of security etc, that is a win regardless of WHO attends.

Je suppose qu’Intel veut juste plus de contribution au code source qu’il ouvre aussi à ses concurrents. Du code source copiable seulement en échange de contributions par exemple ?

Checking the update for GIMP on Haiku, for this I enabled gir (gobject-introspection), but so far I can’t find any references in the preferences and things seem to be fine still.
Maybe someone could give a clue on how to check if this is working properly?
