We're so happy to annouce that we have an open source design devroom and we're now accepting calls for talks via the FOSDEM pretalx system.

Open Source Design has been part of FOSDEM for over a decade now, making sure designers who work with, or contribute to free, libre and open source software (FLOSS) a platform to share their ideas.

What do you think about using stuff like Sentry in open source projects?

On one hand, especially with open source testing things is hard, so using sentry can help with finding errors in you application.

But on the other hand, sentry can collect plenty of data, which is shitty for privacy reasons. Also, there is a point about how public the information that it collects can and should be

#askfedi #opensource

Yes, using Sentry (or others) is fine
Yes, using Sentry with Opt-In is fine
No, using Sentry (or others) is NOT fine

Wanted to share something I came across.

quranic-universal-library is an open-source repo providing Quran resources for developers - fonts, metadata, tafsirs, translations, mushaf layouts, and more.

I only needed fonts and basic metadata for my project, but I love their effort to make these resources freely available.
