🤖 AI Code is Hollowing Out Open Source, and Maintainers are Looking the Other Way // @quippd

「 This is a fast path to open source irrelevancy, since the US copyright office has deemed LLM outputs to be uncopyrightable. This means that as more uncopyrightable LLM outputs are integrated into nominally open source codebases, value leaks out of the project, since the open source licences are not operative on public domain code 」

Big update on GitRoot. I just finished implementing `mv` and `cp` functions in the SDK plugin. It was the final step for the `v0.4` feature set. I also added `rm` and `replace` along the way, even if I didn't detail them in the blog post.

Speaking of which, I wrote a deep dive into the underlying "plumbing." If you want to see how strings travel between a Go host and a WASM guest using pointers and memory addresses, check it out:

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of work I want to keep building and sharing online.

I wrote about that, why I refreshed my support pages, and what I’m hoping to make more of going forward: practical cybersecurity, MSP automation, indie web tools, and real-world IT projects.
