France's Interministerial Digital Directorate announced on April 8 that every government ministry must formalize a plan to drop extra-European software by autumn 2026. 8 categories: operating systems, collaboration tools, antivirus, AI platforms, databases, virtualization, networking. Gendarmerie (national police) already runs 97% of 103,000 workstations on a custom Ubuntu fork. Munich tried this two decades ago and failed on politics and training budgets, not technology. #Linux #OpenSource
