Für sicheres #Messaging sollte man für seinen #Server bezahlen. Nur so vermeidet man langfristig, dass mit Daten Geld verdient werden muss.

Got a question to the Matrix users here. For a community project we have a Matrix room at Matrix.org with many orphaned users. Is it somehow possible to kick users which are idle for a certain amount of time to clean that up?

Today I realised that using a Matrix identity like `me:matrix.vk4msl.com` is a bad idea, as the client goes "ping" any time they use the word `me`.
Here I was thinking it'd either use a prefix like a lot of modern systems do, or require the fully qualified ID.
And unlike IRC, there's no `/nick` command… so I deleted and re-created with a new user ID. `@vk4msl:matrix.vk4msl.com`
At the moment I'm lurking in:
- `#linux:matrix.org`
- `#matrix:matrix.org`
- `#hamradio:m.scd31.com`
`m.scd31.com` seems to be down, but there's a trick to joining it: https://matrix.to/#/!xWUTZRzMBsXtzvLDoJ:m.scd31.com?via=matrix.org gets me in, but not sure how many people I'm reaching due to the server throwing HTTP 503 errors.
If there's other channels for amateur radio discussion though, I'd be all ears. #AmateurRadio #Matrix

Come sapete, tra le varie cose che gestisco c’è anche il mio server #Matrix 🙂
Se non dovete amministrare tantissimi account (e quindi una valanga di comandi e “cose da tenere a bada”), secondo me conviene evitare Synapse e puntare su Conduit.
È molto più leggero, semplice da mantenere e perfetto per piccoli server.
Non servono super competenze tecniche, serve soprattutto pazienza, un po’ di attenzione, e una VPN può essere un’ottima idea per evitare grattacapi tipo porte da aprire sul router di casa, blackout, problemi di linea internet e simili.
Insomma, niente magia nera… solo voglia di fare e un po’ di costanza 💪😊
