Viele im #Fediverse sind ja überzeugt, dass dezentrale Medien weniger Anreize haben, Verweildauer zu maximieren, und deswegen nicht süchtig machen. Nun gibt es (überwiegend) keine algorithmische Timeline, aber andere UX-Elemente (Favs, invinite scroll) sind ja von großen Plattformen übernommen und nicht plötzlich wirkungslos. Daher würde mich interessieren: a) Kennt jemand Studien zu Abhängigkeitseffekten von #Mastodon und anderen Plattformen?

Mastodon, am I doing this wrong? I searched for “books,” and it told me only 200 people posted about it in the last two days. When I open the topic, there are 9 posts, most of which are not about books at all. Is it possible that on all of Mastodon only 200 people mentioned books and there are only 9 posts? Am I missing something, or is the search just broken?

Das Schöne an Wikidata ist, dass man nicht nur herausfinden kann, welche Institution überhaupt auf Mastodon ist, sondern auch viele andere Dinge.
Konkret ist das Ergebnis „Die Gesamtbevölkerung beträgt 7.993.684”. Wichtig ist, dass im ersten Satz immer alle Accounts aufgeführt sind. Egal, wann sie das letzte Mal aktiv waren.
Wenn man sich nur diesen Wert anschaut, komme ich auf „6.022.030”. Natürlich gibt es auch noch andere Listen mit vielen weiteren öffentlichen Einrichtungen.
Meiner Meinung nach ist das a) eine wirklich spannende Zahl, b) zeigt das noch einiges zu tun ist, aber c) kann sich das Fediverse auch auf die Schulter klopfen, denn 6 Millionen ist schon mal eine wirklich beachtliche Zahl. Dazu kommen ja noch ganz viele andere öffentliche Einrichtungen.

Nieregularna przypominajka dla motyli, że jest możliwość nie ruszając się stąd rozmawiać z użytkownikami mastodona. Wystarczy uruchomić mostek śledząc konto @ap.brid.gy@ap.brid.gy i... już.Przez bramkę nie przechodzą DM więc spam nie grozi Wam w żaden sposób, a tak to też ludzie, zasięgi te rzeczy. #mastodon

New to Mastodon and gotta say, the lack of stress when opening social media feels like a new experience.
I’ve also learned a thing or two.
This feels like what social media always should have been. Instead the big name have turned it something awful.

Mastodon could soon be getting the ability to backfill posts for profiles that an instance hasn't seen before. This will fix a major issue with that has made the experience of using Mastodon confusing for new users especially on smaller instances and continues to be a major pain point for experienced users.
Hopefully this won't get delayed any longer than is needed because it's a huge limitation that doesn't need to exist.
